Figure Studies

Displacement

A placeholder for an ongoing series of figure studies rendered as dynamic word clouds. A woman moves through language — wandering, pivoting, never still — while the words that have been used to define, diminish, or contain her orbit and press in around her body. She does not stop. She is always attempting an escape.

Each study draws from a different source of language: rhetoric, legal text, public record. The figure remains the same. The words change. The physics of displacement is the point.
